Tell Young Master Lan about the tunnel
After opening the Smuggler's Tunnel, go back to Lan. In Pangzhen he gives the Lan Manor Key automatically only if you did.
Reaching the Village of Lu takes you through caves, ledges and cellars. The Crane Bell triggers a scene that moves the main quest on. Stone Hand Iron Fever, a boss below the Mirrorwood Entrance Bell, drops the Iron Gauntlets Phantom Edge.
You reach the Village of Lu from the Place of Awakening Bell. Follow the path to the Crossroads and down to Old Man Gen's hideout; Fextralife says entering the compound after the hideout starts the Heartless Remnants story and leads to the first boss.
Mu Xiaokui, the Young Mistress of the Order, closes the region. PowerPyx reaches her by an elevator from the Puppet Testing Grounds area and calls her the region's final boss. Defeating her gives the Wild Oriole Sword, which lies on the dock afterwards; pick it up before you leave, because the elevator breaks.
Is the chapter Heartless Remnant or Heartless Remnants?
Game8 spells the chapter Heartless Remnant. Game Rant and Fextralife's Village of Lu guide write Heartless Remnants. Game Rant's chapter table has a Region column, so Village of Lu there is the region and not a separate quest. We use the singular as the page name and have not checked the in-game text.

Bosses in the Village of Lu
Names are in a fold because they are story spoilers. Game8 and Fextralife classify the bosses differently (see Heartless Remnant); we list all seven and say who marks what. Mu Xiaokui's name is on a Steam achievement; the others are not.
Top of the elevator from the Puppet Testing Grounds area
Region boss. A third phase with two of her guards appears only if the Young Mistress tale is done. Drops the Wild Oriole Sword, and Fiend Saws with the Fist Fragment: Core in the third phase.
The Journey Home and Young Master Lan both finish in Pangzhen. PowerPyx's trophy page calls them missable without naming a failure point, while its region page does not flag them, so the status tags show a disagreement rather than a rule.
Two optional fights sit in the village. Acolyte Yanru is a challenge fight at a scarecrow on the Terraces and drops Yanru's Blazing Mask. Dusk the Puppeteer is in the Broken Puppet Pit and drops the Puppeteer's Bell; PowerPyx says the fog in the shrine that leads there needs all six Firefly memory flowers. Reported· Game8

Jewel
Jewel runs a shop on the cliffside in the Village of Lu where accessories are upgraded. The first accessory there, Jewel's Knot, is in a chest directly behind her.
Old Man Gen is the carter you meet at the start of the first chapter in Weeping Creek Valley. Later he has a hideout in the Village of Lu where he asks you to reach his old house.
Quick Hand Zhang is a thief you free in Crimson Forest. He then runs a shop and a treasure-return quest at a hideout in each of five regions: Crimson Forest, Village of Lu, Pangzhen, Meigu Lake and Mirage Estate.
The Bell is Zhang's Hideout (Village of Lu) Bell, reached through a cave from a river. Returning the treasures pays out Fine Thread: Raises damage and Sha-Chi depletion of summoned objects by 50% (PC Gamer).

Some Village of Lu items only open later: the Flaming Mane burns the branches by the Black Serpent House, the Bashpole breaks a crack near Young Master Lan's Hideout, the Tiger Cannon blows a wall near the Hidden Passage to Pangzhen Bell, and the Mandate Encampment Outer Gate Key from Pangzhen opens the gate.
