One hard cutoff and four dependencies. Every line is PowerPyx's alone. PowerPyx says anything it does not warn about can be collected after the story in free-roam, and that the game warns you if required quests are unfinished.

You arrive from the Village of Lu. In the main-story list Pangzhen holds four chapters: Town of Death, The Heart's Trail, The Four Serpent Houses and The Way Forward. Town of Death
Town of Death is the quest after Heartless Remnant. It is set in Pangzhen, the town you reach once you leave the Village of Lu, and the bosses Blaze and Cavalrybane belong to it.
Part of the quest is opening the Order's underground tavern. PC Gamer says to go to the wine yard behind the tavern building, smash the large black jar behind the pavilion on the right to reveal a crank, and use it to open the cellar. It calls the tavern required to progress through Pangzhen and a hub for side quests.
Point of no return 1: entering Mirage Estate in Pangzhen. The door opens at the end of the main quest 'The Four Serpent Houses': you bring an item from each of the White, Black and Red Serpent House areas to the back door of the Green Serpent House. If required quests are still open, the game warns you before you go on.
Meigu Lake is entered from the northeast corner of Pangzhen, near the Pavilion of Knowledge, but thorny brambles block the path. GameSpot says you burn them with the Flaming Mane Phantom Edge, which you get by finishing Pangzhen's main objectives up to the Lion Dance Grandmaster in the city's northwest corner. PC Gamer agrees that Pangzhen's western boss gives the Phantom Edge that opens the way to the lake from the north of town.
Soulclaimer, an Elite Shadow Warden, is the fight between Pangzhen's rooftops and the docks. GameSpot says to follow the streets and rooftops of the northeast path until you meet him, and that beating him gives full access to the docks and cliffside. PowerPyx reaches him from the Dockside Warehouse Bell: drop into the large courtyard, beat him, go down the stairs to the Pangzhen Docks Bell, then cross the docks or use the boat to enter Meigu Lake. PowerPyx lists his drop as Parting Hooks, a weapon.
Sources disagree on where Flame, the Lion Dance Grandmaster, falls in Pangzhen. PowerPyx's trophy guide puts him at the start of the first section of Pangzhen, while PowerPyx's collectible route reaches the Lion Dance Hall and his arena late in the Pangzhen route. Game8's boss table lists no Flame under Town of Death.

Bosses in Pangzhen
Names are in a fold because they are story spoilers. Game8 has boss pages for Blaze and Cavalrybane only. Where Flame falls is disputed (see Town of Death). PowerPyx says Soulclaimer is not story-related, while GameSpot treats him as the gate to the docks, so we do not say whether he is required.

Myst
Myst owns a tavern in Pangzhen and is the Soul Tempering NPC: each weapon or Phantom Edge can be tempered once, using its own material plus Remnant Dust.
The Apprentice Healer at the Green Serpent House in western Pangzhen upgrades medicine using healer's memories, and you get Green Serpent Brew on the first visit.
The Bell is Zhang's Hideout (Pangzhen) Bell, then drop down a hole. Returning the treasures pays out Goldblaze: A flintlock-style ranged Phantom Edge (PC Gamer calls it essentially a rifle).
