Zhuo Bi, the Gatekeeper: boss guide
Zhuo Bi is the shield-bearing gatekeeper who opens the Heartless Remnant chapter in the Village of Lu. The fight is about his big shield: three guides agree you must break his guard to hurt him, but they split on how. He is not on Steam's achievement list. Reported · Game8

How the fight goes
What he does
Zhuo Bi carries a huge shield and has no other weapon. Game8 and Fextralife describe slow, heavily telegraphed shield slams, a sliding charge with the shield, a backward leap that ends in a ground slam with jagged rocks and a delayed second hit, a spinning swing, and a high dive. Fextralife adds a quick back-leap slam that sends a sonic blast across a wide area in front of him.
Phases
No guide describes separate phases or a mid-fight change, so we do not claim any.
How to beat Zhuo Bi
- Stay close and behind him. Fextralife says most of his attacks only cover the area in front, so his rear is the safest place to fight from.
- Break the shield, then punish. Game8 says to charge the Dread Axe Phantom Edge to break his blue stagger bar; Fextralife says heavy attacks from the front stagger him in a few hits; TheGamer says nothing damages him until his guard is fully broken, and that Iron Gauntlets and the Dread Axe have the best shield-breaking power.
- TheGamer says you break the guard mostly by parrying his attacks. When it breaks, the game prompts you to mount him and stab his eye; expect about four of these cycles to finish the fight. Fextralife describes the same opening as critical strikes while he is staggered.
- On the shield smashes, block the early hits and save your parry for the last one, which is the parryable hit (Game8; Fextralife marks the last slam of the earthblast string blue).
- Dodge the slides and the high dive. Game8 says the screen greys out before a slide, so get ready then, and a weapon skill can interrupt it. Sliding hits drain Sha-Chi (Game8). Fextralife marks the last slide and the dive as red-glint attacks.
- Move to his back or sidestep the rock-burst slam: the rocks rise in front of him and a second blast follows when he lifts the shield (Game8, Fextralife).
Blue marks mean parry, red marks mean dodge Reported · TheSixthAxis Reported · TheSixthAxis. The combat guide covers timing and the Sha-Chi meter.
