Wu Lengshuang, The Soft Sword: boss guide

Wu Lengshuang is an optional Baishan swordswoman in Mandate Encampment and drops the Soft Snake Sword. Game8 is a move list built around her purple-flash parry. Vandal says most of her strings cannot be named, and instead gives a mid-range plan around one self-spin that is almost always followed by a red attack. Reported · Game8

Launch guides write Wu Lengshuang, The Soft Sword. Game8 files her as an optional Perfect Transcension, senior disciple of the Baishan Sect. Steam's achievements do not list this fight on its own. Reported · Game8

How the fight goes

Purple-flash counters (Game8)

Game8 says she is a parry-focused boss: do not mash into her guard. She often deflects with a purple flash that cancels your hit and leads into a counter. Stop attacking when you see the flash. A red glint after it is unblockable (dodge), a blue glint is parryable (Ghoststep), and a flash with no colour can be blocked or dodged. One heavy counter darkens the screen. Vandal does not describe a purple flash.

The spin, then a red attack

Vandal says she has a red attack on parry that is almost instant, and one readable move: a spiral on herself that is almost always followed by a red attack. Dodge that red, then use your best combo. If you miss the dodge, she often chains the red into a blue after a couple of normal hits. Game8 instead names one two-hand swing that is guaranteed to lead into an unblockable spinning slash, and an acrobatic slash you can parry for Ghoststep. We do not treat Game8's two-hand spin and Vandal's self-spin as the same move.

How to spend the fight (Vandal)

Vandal says she chips you even when you parry, has a very large health bar, can hit from any range, and barely leaves a window, so you will not drain her stance the way you do on other bosses. Stay at mid range, tap in and out, and try to bait a combo you can read. Use counters, Sha-Chi and weapon-swap attacks, and expect a long fight. Game8's plan is the opposite: learn the named strings.

How to beat Wu Lengshuang

  • Stop attacking on the purple flash; dodge red, parry blue (Game8).
  • Watch for the two-hand swing, then dodge the unblockable spin (Game8).
  • Parry the acrobatic gap-closer (Game8).
  • When she spirals on herself, dodge the red that follows (Vandal).
  • Fight at mid range and bait a readable combo; Vandal says stance-break will not come naturally.
  • Vandal's example swap: Fiend Saws charged attack, Wild Oriole Sword Sha-Chi combo, back to the saws when she blocks.
