The Hunt, Hunter of the Order: boss guide
The Hunt is a required boss, and every preview agrees the second phase is where it gets hard. The details below come from October previews and trailer coverage, not the launch build, and some accounts disagree. Reported · GamingBolt
Full name from the Steam achievement "The Hunt": the Hunt, Hunter of the Order Confirmed · Steam.
At a glance
- Where to find the fight
- PowerPyx lists him at the end of Weeping Creek Valley (required). He is fought twice: first on the carriage that ends Reckless Pursuit, then here as the Great Waterfall boss (Game8 calls it the second time).
- Reported · PowerPyx
- Reward
- Reports say the Hunter's Chain Sickle, which opens Crimson Forest and is used to swing across to the Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key.

- Dying in phase two
- Multi-phase bosses have checkpoints: dying in a later phase puts you back at the start of that phase, not the whole fight (cannot be disabled).

How the fight goes
Phase one: fast and close
He fights up close with quick strikes and fade-away moves, which one preview calls death by a thousand cuts but also says leave many openings to parry. Watch for a backwards flip: it is the tell for a thrown axe or chain blade. Big attacks have a wind-up that gives you a Ghost Step timing point, and a successful counter can earn a full round of attacks, according to the Chinese press reports we read.
Phase two: the harder half
His body changes and he gains two extra arms, each holding an axe, for four in total. He throws chained blades at range, backflips and darts around the arena to keep his distance. Previews say this is where the fight gets serious and that builds that worked in phase one can get stuck here.
How to beat The Hunt
- In phase one, parry or Ghost Step the openings and punish after each big attack instead of trading blows with the fast strings.
- Treat a backwards flip as an incoming throw and be ready to deal with it before you chase him.
- In phase two, expect ranged chain attacks and a target that keeps retreating: close the distance on his backflips rather than waiting for him to come to you.
- Blue marks are parry targets and red marks are dodges. If you die in phase two you restart at phase two, so you do not need to clear phase one perfectly each time.
Blue marks mean parry, red marks mean dodge Reported · TheSixthAxis Reported · TheSixthAxis. The combat guide covers timing and the Sha-Chi meter.
