How the fight goes
On horseback
Game8 says he opens with a parryable horse jump and then a three-hit combo that ends in a dodgeable strike, and that you can block most of his horseback attacks except the red and blue glints. Fextralife advises staying on his left because most of his swings go to the right, and lists a thrown spinning blade, a rain of blood droplets, a high leap with a slash and a horse-charge slash combo.
On foot with a shield
Game8 says he gets off the horse after you take off roughly a third of his health and fights with a shield, then drops it for a sword-only stance. Fextralife puts the dismount at 60 percent health and says to break his shield with heavy attacks to stagger him. On foot he uses sand smokescreens, pouncing slashes and a spin-and-blind combo.
How to beat Jing Ye
- Perfect-parry the opening horse jump, then dodge the last hit of the three-hit combo that follows. Game8 says that window gives you the most room to attack.
- Block the red missiles he fires from a bag in his left hand (Game8). Fextralife describes this as a rain of blood droplets and says he often follows it with the spinning blade or a normal slash, so stay defensive.
- Bring something that breaks the shield quickly. Game8 recommends the Dread Axe Phantom Edge from Peng Meng to break his shield and blue bar; Fextralife says heavy attacks do the job.
- When he makes a sand smokescreen, back away rather than attack into it, then react to the pounce that comes out of it (Fextralife).
- After a long jump, Game8 says a very quick parryable slash always follows, so parry the next hit once the screen greys out. Fextralife's equivalent is a jump slash where you press the counter key on the last hit.
