Jagged Steel, the Frenzied Brute: boss guide
Jagged Steel is the first regular boss most players meet in Weeping Creek Valley, a fast brute with a serrated sword that builds bleed. He is not on Steam's achievement list, so the name and the details below come from guides and a hands-on preview, not the developer. Reported · Game8

How the fight goes
What he does
Game8 lists three combos. A spin-attack opener gives two blockable hits and then a parryable third; parrying it opens a window to hit back and can stagger him early. A basic combo is signalled by a faint red light in his right hand: block the first five hits, then dodge the follow-up. A third combo ends in an upward slash after four blockable hits; dodge the fifth hit to get room to stagger him.
Bleed and speed
GameRant's hands-on writer says his sword can cause a huge burst of bleed damage if he lands consecutive attacks, that perfectly parrying those attacks negates the bleed build-up, and that his speed was too much on the first attempt until dodges and parries were combined.
Phases
Neither Game8 nor GameRant describes separate phases, so we do not claim any.
How to beat Jagged Steel
- Do not trade blows while he chains hits. Block the early hits of each combo and save your parry and dodge for the last hit (Game8).
- Watch his right hand: a faint red light marks the combo whose follow-up you dodge instead of block (Game8).
- Parry the third hit of his spin opener to stagger him early (Game8).
- Parrying his hits also stops bleed from building up (GameRant), so a clean parry is worth more here than blocking.
- Blue flashes mean parry and red flashes mean dodge, as everywhere in the game. After the fight you can use his bleed blade yourself.
