Gu Wanyue, The Wailing Wraith: boss guide
Gu Wanyue is the second story boss of The Heart's Trail in Pangzhen, found near the Pond of Fading Song bell. GameRant and Gamersky both call her an easy fight with a couple of attacks to respect: GameRant names a projectile to parry back and a Red Flash grab to dodge; Gamersky names a view-blocking move and a roar that holds you for a moment. Reported · PowerPyx
PowerPyx names her Gu Wanyue, The Wailing Wraith; Game8 lists her as Gu Wanyue, a Maskwalker-type boss of The Heart's Trail. The Chinese guide we cross-checked, from Gamersky, calls her 女妖骨婉约. We matched the two by name, place and order, and found no official English-Chinese pairing. Reported · PowerPyx
At a glance
- Where to find the fight
- Pangzhen, just past the Pond of Fading Song bell (PowerPyx). Gamersky's route starts at Wu Xuan's arena: turn right, climb the stairs on the left, go up through the narrow alleys, drop into a courtyard, ride the zipline across and follow the street to the pond bell, where the fight starts (our translation of its bell names).

How the fight goes
What both guides agree on
GameRant says she is not one of the more challenging bosses in the game, but a couple of attacks need attention. Gamersky rates the fight as very low difficulty and also singles out two moves. Neither guide describes separate phases. These are the outlets' own impressions, not tested results.
GameRant's two warnings
GameRant says one attack is a projectile that you need to parry so that it hits her. The other is a Red Flash grab, which you need to be ready to dodge. Red marks mean dodge in this game, so that fits the usual rule.
Gamersky's two moves
Gamersky says that in one move she buries her head in her arms and blocks your view; move away as soon as you see it. In the other she roars and briefly takes control of your character; press the on-screen prompt at once to break free. We cannot tell whether this roar is the same attack as GameRant's grab. A note in the Gamersky article says the picture shown is not of her.
How to beat Gu Wanyue
- Parry the projectile so that it flies back into her (GameRant).
- Dodge the Red Flash grab instead of trying to parry it (GameRant).
- When she hides her face in her arms, step back straight away (Gamersky).
- When the roar grabs you, tap the prompt that appears to break free (Gamersky).
- After the fight, GameRant and PowerPyx both point to the well beside the arena: it holds a Memory Flower, and GameRant says it leads on to the Mandate Encampment Outer Gate Key.
